KL Social Society · Est. August 2022
Meyer and Nina built KLSS on one belief — that everyone was born to dance. No partner needed. No experience required. Just a safe space where anyone can walk in, feel welcome, and discover what their body was always capable of.
KL Social Society started with a simple question: why should dancing be intimidating? Meyer and Nina had seen too many people stand at the edge of the floor, wanting to dance but not knowing how to start.
So in August 2022, they opened the doors at HRC Sky Lounge and said — come as you are. No partner. No experience. No judgment. Just show up and we'll take care of the rest.
What happened next surprised even them. People came. They stayed. They came back the next Saturday. And the one after that. A community grew — not because it was marketed, but because it genuinely felt like somewhere people belonged.
That feeling is still what KL Social Society (KLSS) is built on. Everything else — the programmes, the curriculum, the industry credits — exists to protect it.
Co-Founder & Lead Instructor
Native Californian. Former owner of I Love To Dance Studio in San Diego. Meyer has been dancing for over 56 years — and has spent decades teaching and social dancing across the world, in 134 countries.
He doesn't just teach dances — he studies them at their source. He travelled to Cuba to learn the history and roots of Cha Cha Cha, Son Cubano, and Salsa. To the Dominican Republic to understand the culture and origins of Bachata. To Angola, Cape Verde, Portugal, and England to study Kizomba and Semba directly from the communities that created them.
That depth of authentic knowledge is what separates KL Social Society from any other dance school in KL. Meyer is also a Certified Practitioner in the Neuroscience of Dance — which shapes how every programme is structured and delivered.
Co-Founder & Instructor
Nina brings a rare combination to the dance floor — the technical training of a professional dancer and the psychological depth of a certified clinical psychotherapist.
She works in both corporate and private practice, and applies that understanding of how people learn, connect, and build confidence directly to her teaching at KL Social Society.
Trained in Salsa, Bachata Moderna, Kizomba, Contemporary, Lyrical, and Fusion Latin — Nina is currently advancing her training in Salsa On2 with Dato' Gavin Chan and Fusion Bachata with Khalil.
Industry Credit · 2023
In 2023, KL Social Society (KLSS) was appointed as the official Music Video Dance Choreographer for J Lewis Production's "Por Favor Mi Amor" — one of the first Bachata music video productions in Malaysia and Southeast Asia.
Meyer and Nina represented KL Social Society throughout the production and both received a Certificate of Appreciation from J Lewis Production upon completion.
No partner. No experience. No age limit. No dress code. KL Social Society has always been the kind of place where you can walk in alone on a Saturday night and leave feeling like you've found your people. That's not an accident — it's the whole point.
Learning to dance should feel good — not stressful. KL Social Society is a space where it's okay to mess up, laugh, try again, and actually improve. Every class is designed to be challenging enough to grow and comfortable enough to enjoy.
Not some people. Everyone. The tagline isn't marketing — it's the belief that sits at the centre of everything KL Social Society does. Your body already knows how to move. We just help you remember.
Show up this Saturday. No partner needed. No experience required. Walk in, join the class, stay for the dancing. HRC Sky Lounge, Level 6, Nu Sentral — doors open at 7:00 PM.
