Everything you want to know before Saturday.

Do I need a partner to come? +

No partner needed — ever. KL Social Society is designed for people coming solo. You'll rotate partners throughout the class, which is actually the best way to learn. Most of our regulars came alone the first time.

I've never danced before. Will I keep up? +

Yes. The class is built for complete beginners. Meyer and Nina start from the very beginning every week — no assumptions, no jargon. If you can walk, you can dance. Everyone in the room started exactly where you are.

Is it really free? What's the catch? +

It's completely free. No hidden fees, no membership, no pressure to sign up for anything. KL Social Society has run free classes every Saturday since August 2022. The venue is HRC Sky Lounge — you're welcome to order food and drinks, but there's no obligation.

What should I wear? +

Comfortable clothes you can move in. Shoes with smooth soles are ideal — avoid rubber-soled trainers if you can, as they grip the floor. Smart casual is the general vibe. When in doubt, just come as you are.

What happens after the free class? +

Social dancing from 9:00 to 11:30 PM. The music goes on and you practise everything you just learned with real partners. It's the best part of the night — and most people stay. If you want to go deeper, ask Meyer or Nina about Social Dance for Beginners — a structured 6-week programme at a private studio.

How do I find HRC Sky Lounge inside Nu Sentral? +

Take the lift to Level 6 of Nu Sentral Mall, KL Sentral. HRC Sky Lounge is on that floor. Nu Sentral is directly connected to KL Sentral station — 2 minutes on foot. See the map below for directions.
